QSNP partners participate in qPIC Workshop

The first QSN Partnership workshop takes place in Ghent to reach agreements on qPIC

September 15, 2023

Technologiepark – Zwijnaarde (Ghent, Belgium) hosted the first WP5 workshop of the Quantum Secure Networks Partnership (QSNP), a project of the Quantum Flagship initiative within the Quantum Communication research pillar. Officially launched in March 2023, the partners of this initiative are currently working towards developing advanced technology for quantum secure communications, integrating quantum cryptography technology and establishing this technology for quantum-safe critical public and private infrastructures.

This project is coordinated by ICREA Professor at ICFO Valerio Pruneri, in collaboration with companies and institutions from 14 different countries across Europe (Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Belgium, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland, Netherlands, Denmark, Ireland, Greece and Malta).

As part of the first WP5 workshop, Fab partners (Tu/e, HHI, CEA, UPB, Imec and Tyndall) presented their industrial capabilities for the project. Presentations regarding the quantum photonic integrated circuits (qPIC) wish list from the Quantum partners (UniPD, ICSS-NTUA, ICFO, HHI, CNRS, AIT, Quside, DTU) also took place.

The workshop also covered different topics in terms of research challenges, internal organizational structure and performance of active partners within this working group, as well as logistics for aiming to attain the expected goals and milestones set at the beginning of the project.

The workshop was held both in person and online with participants from the following partner institutions:

  • Austrian Institute of Technology (Austria)
  • CEA (France)
  • CNRS (France)
  • Danmarks Tekniske Universitet (Netherlands)
  • Fraunhofer Heinrich-Hertz-Institut (Germany)
  • ICFO (Spain)
  • IMEC (Belgium)
  • Micro Photon Devices (Italy)
  • Quside (Spain)
  • Technische Universiteit Eindhoven (Netherlands)
  • Tyndall National Institute (Ireland)
  • Universität Paderborn (Germany)
  • ICCS National Technical University of Athens (Greece)
  • Università degli Studi di Padova (Italy)
  • LuxQuanta (Spain)

A future meeting will take place in October of 2023.
