New ICFOnians

Eighteen ICFOnians joined the different ICFO research groups, units and facilities during the month of April. Welcome aboard!

Three postdoctoral researchers, two PhD students, one visiting PhD student, one Academic Affairs Officer, one Project Manager and ten students have joined ICFO during the month of April.

Andrés Ordoñez, who holds a PhD in Physics from the Technische Universität Berlin and Max-Born, Germany, joins ICFO as a postdoctoral researcher in the Quantum Optics Theory research group led by ICREA Prof Dr Maciej Lewenstein.

Antonio Rubio Abadal received his PhD in Physics from the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Münich and joins the Ultracold Quantum Gases group led by ICREA Prof Dr Leticia Tarruell as a postdoctoral researcher. He will be focusing his research on quantum simulation and quantum optics with quantum degenerate strontium gases.

Auxiliadora Padrón Brito recently defended her PhD at ICFO within the Quantum Photonics with Solids and Atoms group led by ICREA Prof Dr Hugues de Riedmatten, and will continue her research within the group as a Postdoctoral researcher.

Rajashree Haldankar, who holds a MSc in Photonics from Aix-Marseille Université, joins ICFO as a PhD student in the Quantum Nano Mechanics research group led Prof Dr Adrian Bachtold.

Luis Felipe Morales Curie, who obtained his MSc in Chemistry from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, joins ICFO’s Neurophotonics and Mechanical Systems Biology research group led by Prof Dr Michael Krieg as a PhD student. His work will focus on machine learning and light-field deconvolution.

Piotr Grochowski who is pursuing a Master’s in ICT for Internet and Multimedia, Photonics from the University of Padova, joins ICFO as a student in the Optoelectronics research group led by ICREA Prof Dr Valerio Pruneri.

Ran Huo, a Master student in Europhotonics, joins ICFO as an Erasmus Mundus student in the Quantum Optics Theory research group led by ICREA Prof Dr Maciej Lewenstein.

Ana Maria Pérez Barrera, who is pursuing her BSc degree in Physics at the UAB, joins the Ultracold Quantum Gases research group, led by ICREA Prof Dr Leticia Tarruell as a student.

Roger Pons Lanau, a Master student in Photonics at la UPC, joins ICFO as a student in the Single Molecule Biophotonics research group led by ICREA Prof Dr Maria García-Parajo.

Yuzhi Wang, who is pursuing a Master in Optics and Photonics at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology, joins the Functional Optoelectronic Nanomaterials research group led by ICREA Prof Dr Gerasimos Konstantatos as a student.

Maria Gisbert Alcantud, who is pursuing a Master’s in Photonics at UPC, UAB, UB and ICFO, joins ICFO as a student in the Quantum Optics Theory research group led by ICREA Prof Dr Maciej Lewenstein.

Xavier Barcons Planas, who is pursuing a Master’s in Photonics at UPC, UAB, UB and ICFO, joins the Quantum Optics Theory research group led by ICREA Prof Dr Maciej Lewenstein as a student.

Carles Mestre Torrents, who is pursuing a Master’s in Photonics at UPC, UAB, UB and ICFO, joins ICFO as a student at the Quantum Optics Theory research group led by ICREA Prof Dr Maciej Lewenstein.

Antonio Estarellas Perales, who is pursuing a Master’s in Photonics at UPC, UAB, UB and ICFO, joins ICFO as a student at the Ultracold Quantum Gases research group led by ICREA Prof Dr Leticia Tarruell.

Paul Leon Gómez, who is working towards a Master of Multidisciplinary Research in Experimental Sciences from the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), joins ICFO as a student in the Super-resolution Light Microscopy and Nanoscopy Lab led by Dr Stefan Wieser.

Maria Quintana Verdaguer, who is pursuing a Master of Multidisciplinary Research in Experimental Sciences from the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology (BIST), joins ICFO as a student in the Single Molecule Biophotonics led by ICREA Prof Dr María García-Parajo.

Giovanna Petrillo, who holds a PhD in Biotechnology from the Universitat de Barcelona, joins ICFO as an Academic Affairs Officer.

Pol Conesa, obtained his BSc in Business Administration from UPC, joins ICFO’s Projects Team as a Post Award Management support member.
